STATEMENT

My work focuses on appropriating and re-contextualizing imagery from the 1940s and 1950s through mixed media and collage. Mid-century images of Americana gleaned from books, magazine advertising, and catalogues evoke an idyllic era while alluding to the imminent atomic age and impending Cold War. Ingrained in our collective unconscious and imbued with a personal dimension, like an old snapshot, these images evoke an uncanny feeling of looking at a lost past or a familiar memory.
