Eleni Foundoukis
Eleni Foundoukis STATEMENT Absurdity and humour interplay in my Collages. An obtuse narrative is formed, which in turn becomes a psychotic, nonsensical and sometimes comic reality. I create a whole backlit universe for lost, deluded and infantilized characters to exist in. The images are presented in a seemingly careless way, having been stripped of their original context in order to form a new purpose. Low quality resolution and pixilation adds to the distortion and becomes at times painterly, adding to the calculated incoherence of the resulting artworks. BIO Eleni Foundoukis was born in Chichester, West Sussex in 1991 and is of dual nationality with Greece. Eleni works predominantly in the medium of collage, in combination with photography, but includes video and large scale installations. Eleni completed a BA (hons) in Fine Art at Central Saint Martin’s College of Art and Design in London in 2013. She has taken part in the group shows “Metamorph” at Hoxton Garage in London, “Nothing About Trees” at Archway, London, “@Warren Street”, Watford and “The Bigger Punch” at the Jago Gallery, Redchurch Street in London, as well as degree and foundation shows at University of the Arts London; Central Saint Martin’s College of Art and Design and Camberwell College of the Arts.
