STATEMENT

Everything begins with a personal quest to visually depict hopes, dreams, and concerns that are somewhat remote from time and everyday experiences. This representation then finds its way into paintings, sketches, and collage animations.

I would characterize the language I utilize for my representations as a hybrid of Dadaism and Surrealism. The pieces serve as the faces of a prism that reflects on the traces that experiences and time leave on these memories and modifies them, even though there isn’t any obvious narrative thread connecting them.

Mixed media and collage are my main tools. Reinstalling cut-out fragments of photographs, newspapers, and textures that once conveyed a message in a different context gives the piece an intriguing depth, almost like a second birth.

I create digital, analog, and animated collage illustrations in my current work.
