STATEMENT

My own perception of visual resonance, as I work, relates primarily to colour, angle and contrast. But for me collage is also tactile and I work to incorporate diverse surfaces, some time-worn, some freshly painted, into the process of collage-making, a process of continuous addition and subtraction. This approach leads to engagement with various found materials such as antique papers, reclaimed wood and fabrics gathered from street, marsh, beach and yard sale.

BIO

Hugo Rizzoli is represented by The Julie Heller Gallery in Provincetown, Massachusetts, where his collages were hung in a two-person show in 2015. His work in various media has been exhibited in juried shows at the Provincetown Art Association and in a solo show at Sturgis Library in Barnstable, Massachusetts in 2014.

A summer stay at the Fine Arts Work Center in Provincetown resulted in publication of a chapbook of poetry, Cape Strata (1989). Hugo and his wife, Carol, a writer, live in Barnstable, Massachusetts.
