STATEMENT

As a self-taught Collagist and Painter, I am unconstrained by the conventions of these mediums. I have formulated my style over many years of experimentation. I approach art much in the way I approach life: with spontaneity and versatility. I use varying subject matter, both for my own enrichment and to appeal to diverse interests.

BIO

Raquel Stokes is a Pacific Northwest collage artist and impressionist painter. Her artistic prowess dates back to her childhood where she concocted make-believe worlds and hid art supplies under her sheets so she could stay up late into the night trying to create a tangible manifestation of her wild dreams. Now, Raquel spends her time making detailed and vibrant acrylic paintings as well as surreal dreamscape collages. Her primary source of inspiration comes from nature and life’s absurdities.

Although you may find Raquel’s artwork hung in private residences and businesses, she considers her biggest artistic accomplishment to be that she is completely self-taught. Without guidance or study, she has created a style all her own that intrigues many and leaves them wanting more.
