Thomas Darby STATEMENT She changed before my fingertips. I poured over each section. Each part. Peeling back the flesh carefully with the blade, I set her free from the memories of the eyes that had looked on her before. The hands that locked her away in drawers, at the bottom of wardrobes beneath piles of clothes, in horizontal body bags with others waiting for the same hands to pick her out from these temporary resting places only to go into dim rooms behind locked doors and dark dreams. BIO After graduating from Fine Art (BA Hons.) at Nottingham Trent University in 2010 with a first class degree, I have continued to develop my practice. Whether it be in collage, video, performance, photography or writing, I have been investigating how personal drives and feelings are explored through technology and different media. How our base drives get expressed in modern society, and where we fit as individuals in this highly intimate social climate. Where do ‘I’ fit in? I have been exhibiting works in various formats, video and collage, in gallery spaces around the UK and in Europe.
