STATEMENT<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

I made my first collage late in life just as I was about to retire from a 20-year career as a bookseller.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was magical\u2013a bit of serendipity and now a joyful passion along with assemblage, photography and anything that requires creating something from nothing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The products of my play are called surreal, whimsical, improbable, colorful and weird.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Soon after starting to make pictures, I stumbled on another joy: teaching others that they too are artists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since 2012 I\u2019ve given 50 or so art classes to parents, children, the elderly, military veterans and those with dementia with partial funding for half of these from a Philadelphia Cultural Alliance grant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I play every day. My toys are vintage magazine images, discarded books, cardboard, acrylic, pastel, watercolor, sharpies, ephemera and all manner of stuff including trash. How lucky can a girl get?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

BIO<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Linnie chanced upon the joy of being a maker of pictures while taking a collage class at a local art center.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Her early inspiration was influenced by the whimsical illustrations from the vintage children\u2019s picture books she sold by day as an antiquarian bookseller.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since retirement from bookselling, she\u2019s happily focused on making art in all forms–especially collage where she uses hand painted papers and her original photographs to fashion surrealistic scenes, mythical creatures and fun landscapes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She teaches mixed media at the Main Line Art Center in Haverford, Pennsylvania and has hosted over 50 free art workshops in libraries, senior communities, the veteran\u2019s administration and Please Touch Museum in Philadelphia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Her work appears in Collage in the House, An International Collection for World Collage Day 2022<\/em> by Kelly Schaub (ISBN: 979-8815165106) and is featured in Ekphrasis 2020<\/em> scheduled for publication in December 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She is an active member of several local art groups including Delaware Valley Art League, ARTsisters, Montgomery County Guild of Professional Artists and Philadelphia Watercolor Society. She also served on the board of Tri-State Artists Equity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
