STATEMENT<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

My work is driven by contrast–strength and vulnerability, order and chaos, death and rebirth. I explore the tension between opposites, capturing moments where things come together and fall apart. Magic lives in these in-between spaces. As a mixed media artist, I combine drawing, painting, photography, and collage. I use oils, acrylics, markers, vintage paper, posters, candy wrappers, and other overlooked materials to tell layered, tactile stories. I give new life to forgotten things, linking past and present. Art-making is both playful and grounding for me–a way to explore the absurd and the fleeting while holding on to what feels lasting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Enid Johnstone is a multi-disciplinary artist exploring themes of polarity and contrast. Raised in rural South Africa and now based in Florence, Italy, her global life experience shapes a practice rooted in storytelling and cultural connection. With a background in journalism and a passion for writing, Enid brings narrative depth to her layered, mixed media works. Her distinctive style draws from beauty, impermanence, and solitude, and her art has been exhibited internationally and collected around the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
