STATEMENT<\/strong><\/p>\n

His work is autobiographical and he is interested in the accidental presences and juxtapositions that can occur in personal photographs and extends this experience through his self portraits to construct complex compositions including personal, social and historical references. The traditional method of cut and paste is used to preserve the integrity of the images.<\/p>\n

He uses photographic self portrait as the starting point for exploring the past and present\/an autobiographical journey\/a reflection of his life through his own face, through the years and the people he has met\/hated\/admired\/and married.<\/p>\n

He has overlaid his face with that of others who have some has influenced his life–sometimes positively and sometimes less so–but have all left their mark. Some of the connections are smooth fits (he was surprised that Margaret Thatcher\u2019s facial features were such a smooth fit!), whilst others are less happy.<\/p>\n

The Self-Portrait as Peter Blake<\/em> is a bit of a homage to an artist who influenced him in his early career and the Self-Portrait as Holly Golightly<\/em> is his homage to the beautiful Audrey Hepburn and also his feeling of closeness to her character in the film Breakfast at Tiffany’s<\/em>, the person who, like me, came to the city from a rural background. While his Stuttering Self-Portrait<\/em> includes his wife Daniela, who sees Queen Elizabeth I as her great heroine.<\/p>\n

BIO<\/strong><\/p>\n

Cameron Scott graduated with BA Hons from Grays School of Art, Aberdeen and won the coveted Cinzano National Scholarship for Great Britain which allowed him to work for some of the leading design and fashion houses in\u00a0France and Italy for 9 months. He was an art lecturer through to Head of Art School working as far afield as Falmouth School of Art to Salford University and has exhibited extensively with exhibitions in London (Saatchi), Manchester, Salford, Bradford, Birmingham and Denmark. He has work in private collections and his commissions are varied.<\/p>\n
