STATEMENT<\/strong><\/p>\n

I have worked in collage since my early youth. Equal parts Type A and Type B, I like the process of finding material and arranging it in different ways, repurposing material that would otherwise be discarded. Most of the images I use as material come from fashion magazines. Since most of my images are based on symbols, especially those pertaining to ritual practices, I think it’s interesting to make something with substance out of images that are typically quite superficial.<\/p>\n

BIO<\/strong><\/p>\n

Originally from the small industrial village of Estevan, Saskatchewan in the Canadian prairies, Julie Henneberg received a BFA in Criticism and Curatorial Practice at OCAD University in Toronto in 2013 and completed a Masters of Sociology from Lancaster University in 2015. She has been making collages from discarded fashion magazines since childhood. Working with themes including ritual and representation, Julie finds it interesting to make something with substance out of images that are usually quite superficial. At present she lives in Hasselt, Belgium, where she runs a yoga therapy studio and maintains an art practice.<\/p>\n
