Statement<\/strong><\/p>\n

My minimal, mixed media work on paper reflects an interest in silence and contemplation.\u00a0 The visual languages I use include found images and materials as well as subtle gestural brushstrokes and delicately drawn images.\u00a0 Humility and obscurity are important qualities in the imagery I choose as I seek to create relationships that will compel one to quiet reflection.\u00a0 Cultivating a greater sense of awareness and a more intimate relationship with our environment is a goal of my work.<\/p>\n

In the way a Zen koan uses language to subvert the logic of language and bring about a new experience of reality, with my work I am using the language of images in a way that resists narrative and logic in order to lead us to a state of silence and reflection, where we may find something of the eternal in the temporal.<\/p>\n

BIO<\/strong><\/p>\n

I am an artist living in Salem, Oregon. My minimalist mixed media work on paper reflects an interest in contemplation and silence. I received a BFA in studio art from Southern Oregon University and am currently working on a Master’s degree in theology.\u00a0 I have shown my art in galleries throughout Oregon as well as in California and New Hampshire.<\/p>\n
