STATEMENT<\/strong><\/p>\n

First and foremost, I am an avid reader and book collector. Reading and associated images in printed texts have always informed my practice in one way or another. I particularly enjoy old books, with their faded colours and patina of age and these invariably find their way into my work in one form or another: be it collage, assemblage, an altered or handmade book. I enjoy a low tech approach to my collage and usually use the very traditional means of cut and paste to make my images. Thematically, my recent work combines two abiding passions: travel, natural history\/endangered species. The postcard series “time travellers” reflects these interests without any overt message and are more a narrative about the romance of architectural monuments, the passage of time, as well as the animals being in a foreign and man made environment.<\/p>\n

BIO<\/strong><\/p>\n

I was born in New Zealand and currently reside in Melbourne, Australia. I left school at 15 and did not return to formal study until many years later. I completed my degree in fine art at the Victorian College of the Arts and graduated in the late 1990s. I currently teach art to adult students who have not completed their formal schooling and want to resume their education to enable them to study at a tertiary level. I am a keen gardener and maintain a veggie plot in my local community garden. I am hoping to retire in the not too distant future and have more time for my art.<\/p>\n
