STATEMENT<\/strong><\/p>\n

My art explores themes of nature and the things around us. The first steps of the process often involve journaling on paper using paints, collage and pen-and-ink. I then interpret those drawings and paintings using mixed media on canvas.<\/p>\n

Picasso said, \u201cI paint objects as I think them, not as I see them.\u201d<\/p>\n

I paint the same way. My paintings are a personal response to my state of mind. I find abstract art more real and conversational, as it comes directly from the artist’s mind. I take elements from my surroundings and then compose them on the canvas in my own characteristic style.<\/p>\n

I say, Give yourself permission and make art in blissful abandon. You do not make mistakes; you create opportunities to find creative solutions. Draw. Draw some more. Use all of the supplies you buy and then buy more.<\/p>\n

BIO<\/strong><\/p>\n

Bilal Ashraf is a textile print designer currently based in Lahore, Pakistan. He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Textile Design from the College of Art & Design, University of the Punjab. He specialized in surface pattern and print design. To gain a broader understanding of silhouette and garment, his studies were supplemented with a post-grad program in Apparel Design at Indus Valley School of Art & Architecture in Karachi.<\/p>\n

He currently splits his time between developing patterns and other textile design work. A versatile designer with a diverse range of experiences and a constant drive to meet new challenges, Ashraf is always on the lookout for new projects and avenues to develop, and thus welcomes inquiries about new projects\/commissions or collaboration ideas.<\/p>\n
