STATEMENT<\/strong><\/p>\n

Since 2015, I have been travelling and working around Latin America and Mexico with personal projects or as part of art residencies. Currently my work is a mix of inspiration from reportage photography and film, to mixed media collages. Now I see my work as a kaleidoscope of what I am, what I was and I will be.<\/p>\n

My work is inspired by a sense of intensity and wants to capture the audience and lead it to a point of no return through a shamanic ritual dance of mixed feelings of violence and allure.<\/p>\n

Every creation starts from my personal life as a metaphor for universal matters such as life, death, love, femininity and transformation. Using close friends and unusual models in my work, I unite and sublimate us all to the state of icons. This journey of exploration led me more and more to work with the \u201cminority report\u201d–with uncommon people, forgotten areas of the city, different kinds of beauty–as a manifest of existence, not rebellion, not resistance, just a declaration of presence, of me as the artist and the subjects I work with.<\/p>\n

BIO<\/strong><\/p>\n

My name is Maya and I am an artist using photography as my main medium, and people as my main subject. I also work with painting, collage and film. I was born in Poland, grew up in Italy and after an MA in photography and filmmaking and fine art studies, I moved to London in order to evolve more in my professional career.<\/p>\n

In 2015, I left London and I am now in Mexico where, after a few years of travel, first in the Peruvian Amazon, then Colombia, I built my base for great, creative Latin American work. During my travels, I have been part of f art residencies and collaborations in Colombia with Casa Tres Patio in Medellin, Ciudad Movil and PERIFERIA, an independent and subversive dance company from Cartagena. My work, Oxitocin<\/em>, has been presented in two exhibitions in Colombia.<\/p>\n

I have collaborated with big names such as the World Economic Forum, Universal Pictures, Bulgari and an Italian NGO called Emergency. As an artist, I have exhibited world-wide including Bogota, Medellin and Cartagena, Colombia; Oaxaca, Mexico; Lodz, Poland; Miami, Florida, USA; London, United Kingdom.<\/p>\n
