STATEMENT<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

I am interested in the space between sentiment and formalism, between beauty and its shadow. My works on paper, by appropriating and adding to the collected evidence of my life, pay homage to art\u2019s unique ability to give permanence to the fleeting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

BIO<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pam Sutherland is an artist residing in Richmond, Virginia who works in drawing, collage and installation. Pam received the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts Fellowship in 2005 for Drawing. Her work was published in the Open Studio Press\u2019 Studio Visit<\/em> in 2008 and she was the 2009 recipient of the Theresa Pollak Prize for Excellence in Fine Art given by Richmond Magazine. Her work is in several public collections including the Try-me Collection, The University of Virginia, the Federal Reserve Bank, and Wells Fargo Bank. Pam earned her B.A. in Fine Art from the College of William & Mary and her M.F.A in Painting from Washington University in St. Louis. Until 2010, she was represented by Kathryn Markel Fine Arts in New York and is currently represented by Quirk Gallery in Richmond. The works seen here are from her most recent series entitled “Island Grammar”.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
