STATEMENT<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Collage is my favorite medium to work with. It is sacred to me and I enjoy all aspects of it; the collecting of material, the arrangements, the themes, the references, the juxtapositions, and the way that each collage dictates its own set of rules. This last element of collage, what I call \u201cexecuting the formula\u201d, is very much like playing a game or solving a puzzle. As soon as the basic component or pattern of a piece is revealed to me, it seems to take on a life of its own. Once this happens, always early in the work, I can start to perceive what the final composition might look like. It becomes a fun and automatic process in which I am in control of the general direction, yet often surprised by the outcome.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

BIO<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Born in Carmel, California in 1971. I studied Fine Arts at Otis\/Parsons in Los Angeles (1990-1994). I have traveled to many parts of the world, studying the art and history of many places, with a particular interest in ancient cultures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I have been a collagist for over 35 years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Currently I reside in Victoria, British Columbia, where I have had four solo exhibitions at Winchester Gallery in Oak Bay, three out of four of which have featured all collage work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
