STATEMENT<\/strong><\/p>\n

Imagination exists by the grace of the imperfect, the unfinished\u00a0and the unknown.<\/p>\n

As long as I can remember, I have been collecting\u00a0things and placing them together in little shrines. Some pieces\u00a0have meaning, others are just plain but meaningful because of\u00a0their shape. My work begins from this ritual. I make my collage\u00a0with books from the 60s and 70s that I collect, not because of\u00a0nostalgia, but because of their colours. Not extremely bright\u00a0colours, but soft and saturated colours, like the colours in the\u00a0movie Cat On a Hot Tin Roof<\/em>.<\/p>\n

In the collages I make, I\u2019m always searching for a balance\u00a0between reality and alienation. I\u2019m always questioning myself\u00a0about where reality ends and imagination begins. I question\u00a0myself about the personal diary we keep in our heads. Are we\u00a0capable of accepting new concepts or are we always hooking them\u00a0up to a \u201cthing\u201d we know from real life and trying to connect with\u00a0it?<\/p>\n

BIO<\/strong><\/p>\n

Tinca Veerman graduated from Artez, Arnhem, The Netherlands in 1990. Since then, she has been working as an artist, musician, and silkscreen printer.\u00a0She also worked at the Frans Mazereel Centre for Graphic Techniques in Kasterlee, Belgium. Her speciality is silkscreen \u00a0printing.<\/p>\n

Today she lives and works in Amsterdam.<\/p>\n
