STATEMENT<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

With his series \u201cMake art with money, not money with art\u201d, The Pop Surealist’s art becomes an open protest. The Pop Surealist is working on collages using banknotes from around the world. His concept is to immobilize money, to desecrate it. The Pop Surealist reminds us that banknotes are just pieces of paper. This collection denounces and demonstrates the fascination we have for money, especially in the world of contemporary art.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This series is also an opportunity for him to bounce back on subjects that particularly interest him such as ecology, feminism, discrimination and freedom. In the universe of The Pop Surealist, Hassan Rouhani becomes a fan of Elvis Presley, Saddam Hussein is a sheriff wearing a garter belt, and the orphan Queen Elizabeth becomes the Brexit Popess.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

His work can be seen on the streets, online, and in Parisian galleries such as Lavomatik, DeMedicis Gallery, Next Street Gallery, and Modus Gallery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

BIO<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Pop Surealist was born in 1979. Originally from Normandy, he was introduced to art through the abstract works of painter Maurice Duhaz\u00e9, a friend of the family.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 1999, The Pop Surealist joined the \u00c9cole Sup\u00e9rieure d\u2019Art Moderne of Paris. There he studied photography, architecture, design, painting and rediscovered the works of Marcel Duchamp, Max Ernst, and Hannah H\u00f6ch. Five years later he graduated as major with the congratulations of the jury.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He draws his inspiration from the Dada movement, punk heritage and graffiti culture. His rich and garish painting is a complex amalgam of collages, ready-made, oil paint, aerosol, and acrylic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
