STATEMENT<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

My obsession with \u201cthe face\u201d began at an early age. Eight. I\u2019d asked my mother, \u201cMommy, am I pretty?\u201d After a long pause, she replied. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWell,\u201d she said, \u201cYou\u2019re interesting looking.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I\u2019ve been exploring beauty and creating portraits ever since, and I\u2019ve come to agree with Edgar Allan Poe; \u201cThere is no exquisite beauty…without some strangeness in the proportion.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This past year, 2020, has added layers, quite literally, to the mix and to my work. To date, I have created well over 250 \u201cPandemic Portraits.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

BIO<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Taylor\u2019s work has been shown in numerous venues both nationally and internationally (from New York City to Los Angeles to Germany and beyond). Most recently, her \u201cPandemic Portraits\u201d series has received high acclaim from and has been featured by the National Collage Society, University of Arizona Museum of Art, SAACA (Southern Arizona Arts & Cultural Alliance), and Lori Waxman (art critic Chicago Tribune).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Her work has hung on the prestigious walls of MoMA (Museum of Modern Art), National Catholic Museum (NYC), Lake County Discovery Museum (Illinois), Johnson-Humrickhouse Museum (Ohio), University of Arizona Art Museum (Tucson).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition, she is the co-founder of the Harlem Open Artist Studio Tour\/artHARLEM, and The RoyGBiv Society, NYC; has curated a number of shows.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And, she authored and illustrated two best-selling books, Our Lady of Weight Loss<\/em>, and All Is Forgiven, Move On<\/em> (Penguin Publishing).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
