STATEMENT<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Making my mixed media pieces, I frequently use my block prints as a starting point. Around these block prints I add elements created in many different mediums that are all created by me. These include drawing and painting in many different mediums, pieces of block prints, and papers of different types. Conceptually, I am always looking for a way to convey and share a love of nature. I prefer to simplify and add some of my spirit to my work that is what I see out in nature. I capture the shapes and gestures from the birds as they stop to eat at the feeder or fly by. I choose to abstract natural forms and people into simpler forms on these pieces. My concept is to capture and excite the viewer and encourage them to get out and see the world around them. The woods, water features, birds and fields are my inspiration. By enhancing the love of them, I hope to set others on a path of deep appreciation and stewardship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

BIO<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

I use my work to convey a deep appreciation of the natural world. Form is beautiful, color is exciting, movement is visually stimulating, and texture and patterns open inspire me to express myself. I enjoy using many different art mediums.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

My mixed media work has been accepted into many regional, national, and international shows. I have had articles featuring this work in a national and an international magazine.

I attended SUNY New Paltz, where I received my BS in Art Education. I also have an MS degree from SUNY Fredonia. After teaching for 30 years, I am now a full-time award-winning artist and the owner of Portage Hill Gallery in Westfield, New York, USA.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
