STATEMENT

I have no agenda beyond creating the incomprehensible. I try to avoid recognizable faces and images–the more unhinged and “just beyond the threshold of understanding” the image is–the better. I’ll use anything from hardware catalogues to fancy books, though the results tend to be figurative, not abstract. I prefer analogue, but I’m not against digital–my online collaboration “The Infinite Collage” (started in 2009 and still growing) is testimony to that. I also like to animate collages and have used them in music videos and cartoons.

BIO

One part Australian, two parts former Eastern European Communist, I made my first collages at age 8–then rediscovered the craft again in the mid-90s. I have been in numerous publications/exhibitions in Australia and overseas; I’ve published a number of books of works–and still I have a day job. Founder of the Melbourne Kollage Ultra collective and one half of the “Infinite Collage” project (2009 – ?). I also make a lot of music and short films. I live by the sea in Melbourne, Australia with one lovely partner and two daft cats.
