Transformation: A Survey of Collage and the Development of Personal Language

edited by Eric Palmerlee

Transformation: A Survey of Collage and the Development of Personal Language is an art survey book that spotlights the evolving work of thirteen internationally acclaimed contemporary collage artists, including Andrew Almeter, Allan Bealy, Andrea Burgay, Andrés Gamiochipi, Lars Henkel, Danila Ilabaca, Eva Lake, Paul Loughney, Eric Palmerlee, Somsara Reilly, Steven Rudin, Steve Tierney, and Paloma Trecka.

Transformation breaks new ground in the presentation of collage art, uniquely chronicling each artist’s
journey over time. Eschewing the traditional “snapshot” approach, this collection instead provides an
intimate, career-spanning view of artistic evolution—showcasing between 10 and 15 works per artist.
These carefully curated selections trace the development of personal visual languages, inviting readers
to witness the shifts in style, concepts, and technique that define each artist’s creative trajectory.
The book also features insightful details from each artist, delving into their creative approach, where they
find inspiration, how they source materials for their collages, and reflections on the evolution of their work over time.
