HISTORY<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In 2006, a small group formed the Atlanta Collage Society as an interactive and supportive organization for collage artists. In addition, the founders wanted to foster appreciation, interest, and understanding of collage within the general community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

MISSION<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Atlanta Collage Society’s mission is to promote the medium of collage through professional development such as art exhibits, educational programs, instructional workshops, community outreach, and membership support.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

JOIN<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

To get involved artists may sign up for the group’s free newsletter published on their website<\/a> twice a month. Membership applications are also available on their website. The annual membership fee is $25, which is a prerequisite for participating in any of their group exhibits each year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The newsletter and Facebook <\/a>page maintain a current list of upcoming activities and exhibits. Although based in Atlanta, Atlanta Collage Society also exhibits in regional venues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

KEY ACTIVITIES<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Atlanta Collage Society holds membership meetings every other month to provide opportunities for sharing personal creativity and group interaction. To encourage involvement within the Atlanta community, the group sponsors collage exhibits, professional workshops, and collaborative projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As an organization they have developed projects for the benefit of the Atlanta community, partnering with other groups to design and construct installations of public art. Their signature event was “The Marilyn Project” to commemorate the centennial of collage as a formal art element. An 8-foot-square assemblage of 841 small (3 inch) collages, The Marilyn Project was an interpretation of a classic Andy Warhol image of Marilyn Monroe. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
