California artist Bonnie Ruttan’s Year of Making

An artist shouldn’t underestimate the transformative power of steady, consistent practice. There is no better way to draw that out than a challenge. In September 2017, Palm Springs artist Bonnie Denver Ruttan decided to produce one collage a day for a year and then sell her output as a benefit for the Palm Springs Animal Shelter at the end of the year.

This daily practice has caused me to expand my horizons considerably and has fired my imagination to view things around me in new ways.

Bonnie Ruttan is a multimedia artist who has lived and worked in Palm Springs, California, USA since the 1980s. Originally from Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania, Ruttan was a psychiatric nurse before becoming an artist. In addition to the “Collage 365” project in Palm Springs, two of her collages, Dr. P.G.T.
