The Nyco Project

The Nyco Project is doing something with music, collage, and video that is pretty fresh. The London-based group describes themselves as “independent artists weaving grit-pop, alt-torch, blues rock and psychedelia into interactive video-collages.” Sound collage is nothing new. Pop musicians using collage as visuals for the albums isn’t either. But The Nyco Project takes things to a whole new level by experimenting with their recording process and integrating sound and visual components.

“We explore the concept of a song as a collage by filming the individual original live-performances of each sound and then bring them together into one scene,” explains the band. “We’re opening a window for a closer look to the singularities that make the whole and see the actual stories behind our sounds.” The next album, The New Machine III, is due out this summer. In the meantime, check out www.thenycoproject.com for music and videos. For lovers of collage, The Nyco Project is a rare opportunity to see just how far the genre can go.
