La Xenakiss says about her work, “My collages are like games, maps or little codified structures. I would describe them like places where negative space expresses itself with as much eloquence as form. I would compare them to three-dimensional labyrinths within which we place an invisible marble….”

Ariane Fairlie profiled La Xenakiss in an Artist Portfolio in Kolaj Magazine Issue 12. She wrote:

This is the challenge La Xenakiss poses to the viewer: navigate, if you dare, her labyrinthine collages. It feels the same as losing a life to drag your eye back up to the middle of the image via the blue and black tiles, and even then your only hope is to try to scramble up the light blue diagonal forms. The artist says that each collage is like “a silent pinball machine,” and she is right on.

La Xenakiss lives and works in Montreal. Learn more about her on her Kolaj Magazine Artist Directory page: HERE.
