Launa D. Romoff

#432 - 25 Cents by Launa D. Romoff

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA, USA

American collage artist Launa D. Romoff says, “Collage is, for me, an almost spiritual experience. It gives me a sense of peace and centredness. As I fill the blank canvas, I dedicate a part of my soul to my audience. The number of awards I have pinned on my wall are a reminder of the gift I have found and the gift I give. My success stems not from the many pieces I have sold in my short career, but from the fact that the people who have seen my work have wanted to have it for their own.”

Ariane Fairlie wrote about Launa D. Romoff’s collage work in her Issue Seven portfolio:

Whereas Dada was a bit of a tortured affair, Romoff’s work is much more joyful. It has little reference to the contemporary world. Everything about her pieces from style to the artist’s selection of objects is nostalgic for another era. Still, her artwork brings something more to the table; it is a new imagining of an already established style, a celebration of Dada.
