Cordula Kagemann
Bruchhausen-Vilsen, Germany

The mixed-media paintings of Cordula Kagemann integrate the organic form on many levels. Created on a base support of stretched canvas or watercolour paper, the image is constructed in large part through the use of meticulously cut pieces of Fabriano Tiziano and Himalaya papers, Abaca tissue as well as images selected from magazines. Each of these elements is then manipulated in a different way to produce a balanced composition through formal repetition and muted colour concordances.

The semiopaque tissues are then torn in patchwork forms and placed to generate the illusion of depth.
