SEATTLE, WASHINGTON & NEW YORK, NEW YORK USA

Sol Hashemi is a hybrid artist whose work can exist as collage, photograph, performance, and sculpture all at the same time. Born in Vancouver, Washington, Hashemi has a BFA in photography from the University of Washington. His work has been shown in solo and group shows in Seattle, Miami, Naples (Italy), New York, London, and Munich. He divides his time between Seattle and New York.

You can see more of Hashemi’s work at his website.

An Artist Portfolio about Sol Hashemi appeared in Issue Nine. This is some of what Kolaj contributor Claudia Eve Beauchesne had to say:

On any given day, we might come across a billboard partly obscured by a poster next to a photo printed on a tote bag filled with packaged goods. Hashemi’s pieces replicate and deconstruct this experience so that the whole, the parts and the context remain visible simultaneously.
