David King: Recent Collage & Drawings
3 March-6 April 2017
Artist reception: Friday, 3 March, 6-8PM
San Francisco-area artist David King presents two consecutive shows featuring his earlier collage and drawing and newer, as-yet-unexhibited work.
Cory W. Peeke interviewed David King in Kolaj #3. King said, “In my early collage making, all of my pieces were constructed around cut-out figures, often participating in some narrative which illustrated a point I was trying to make. Over the years, though, my work has shifted to the abstract, which cleared away any specific narrative and left room for a viewer’s personal interpretation of the image, which I felt was important when trying to express more complex ideas about spirituality, for example.”
David King is the recipient of a grant from the Pollock-Krasner Foundation (2010) and Visual Aids (2013) and his works have been exhibited throughout the US and Europe in such prestigious venues as the Soap Factory in Minneapolis and San Francisco’s Yerba Buena Center for the Arts.
