Facades

COLLAGE ON VIEW

Facades: Evelyn Davis-Walker & Steven S. Walker
at the Thomas University Art Gallery
in Thomasville, Georgia, USA
4 September-4 October 2018

“Facades” is a collaborative series by spouses Evelyn Davis-Walker and Steven S. Walker. The series examines the societal rules and taboos of the 1950s. A person’s identity is directly tied to appearances and impressions–whether their physical appearance to their inner circle of friends, or that of the house they “kept” and its appearance within their community. The concept of façades contributes greatly to the overall message of this series.

Davis-Walker was a panelist in “Materials & Sources” at Kolaj Fest New Orleans 2018 and selections from her collage series, “House + Wife”, were presented as part of “Revolutionary Paths: Critical Issues in Collage” at Antenna Gallery as part of Kolaj Fest New Orleans 2018.
