Mike Cockrill: Falling In Place

at Mosaic Artspace in Long Island City, New York, USA
5 January-20 February 2026

Using a multi-media collage approach, Mike Cockrill has launched his paintings into new realms. Combining drawing, painting, cut-up shirts, and repurposed collage fragments pulled from earlier canvases, Cockrill’s paintings reflect his evolving interests in Rococo painting, mid-century suburbia, military jets, and ghostly figures. Eleven new paintings with several new subjects address Cockrill’s concerns with a world out of balance. “Deconstructed Fragonards” feature rosy-cheeked damsels tilting on backgrounds as layered as shredded subway posters. Suburban landscapes are eerily devoid of life. Military aircraft disintegrate after ejecting small missiles. Gray figures barely emerge from a fog.
