From the Sea to the Sky

at Safnasafnið: The Icelandic Folk and Outsider Art Museum, Svalbarðseyri, Iceland
17 May-4 October 2026.

This exhibition presents the works of Þórður Valdimarsson (1934-2009), who created under the name Kiko Korriro. For decades, largely in solitude and without intention of public recognition, he produced intricate and highly imaginative images. The exhibition moves through different scales of existence from the microscopic to the cosmic–evoking both the interconnectedness of the world and the impact of human kind on nature.

Wonders of the Sea by Kiko Korriro

The exhibition presents collages that Kiko Korriro made during his studies in France from 1949 to 1953. The works are based on magazine clippings, photographs, and prints arranged in dense compositions. The exhibition is presented as a journey through the scales of nature – from the elements of the earth, to life and human traces, and from there up to space and the void. Together, the works form an ode to earth where beauty and danger go hand in hand.
