“Goll&”: Lewis Golland

Lewis Golland was born and raised in the suburbs of Southeast England. He started collaging back in 2008 when he was in college, where it was easy and accessible at the time. He then started to get involved in online art communities and began sharing work alongside artists who were influencing him at the time.

Soon after, he began to get involved in mail art, which he found was a great way to meet new people and to build up a network of artists. Now, he participates in several online community platforms which all share work from other collage artists around the world and where he collaborates regularly.

Golland said: “One of my favourite things about collage is getting to look through vintage literature. I can really get a sense of what things were like before I was born and it always seems so surreal.
I would describe my work as a kind of visual poetry, gesturing towards themes of popular culture, mass media, and the psychoanalysis of human nature, particularly in western culture.”
