Her artistic process involves carefully selecting, deconstructing, and reassembling archival materials, reflecting how we piece together our understanding of family history and personal identity. Sterling-Wilson, as the author of her own narrative, preserves her lineage by integrating elements from her family archives and actively shapes its continuing story. Through intimate scenes captured in her childhood home, she builds upon her family archive to explore shared memories.

The collages and photographs in “The Sterlings” bridge the past and present, emphasizing the intergenerational connections that define familial bonds. Through layered imagery and textures, Sterling-Wilson invites viewers to actively engage and reflect on their own relationships with family, culture, and traditions.
