The tidy beauty of Erin McGean\u2019s collages betrays their sophistication. The series, \u201cYou Don\u2019t Bring Me Flowers\u201d, combines photographs of nude women with elegant floral displays in a manner that harkens to the minimalist collages of John Stezaker. \u201cThe inspiration for my collage work comes from my experiences as a woman and a strong connection to nature. Using bits of female figures, landscapes, and other items from nature, I explore my own emotions and memories through the combination of imagery. The testing and floating is key.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Erin McGean holds an honours BFA from York University in Toronto, where she studied painting, drawing and art history at York University in Toronto, followed by a Bachelor of Education from Brock University. Although originally trained in painting and drawing, she has been producing analogue and digital collages for the past several years. Her work has been shown in the Greater Toronto Area and her work is in private and corporate collections. McGean lives in Oakville, Ontario, raising her family, teaching high school visual arts and practicing her craft.
