In ways both literal and metaphorical, the exhibition is a way of putting pen to paper on developments that were organically occurring when two artists who share a particular way of seeing collide.

Noon by Nima Nabavi and Jason Seife
62″x62″x2″; archival ink, oil and acrylic on canvas. Courtesy of the artists and The Third Line.

Both Nabavi and Seife think in color, shape, and line. Up close, the detail is rich and even more complex than either artist had attempted before. There is a subtlety of matching elements in response to one another. There may be a corner of blue, or a hexagon of orange, that at once appears bold as brass to Seife’s eye that becomes a gauzy layering of tones in Nabavi’s execution. Ultimately, they work in very different mediums, and although they may mirror one another structurally, the works retain the telltale idiosyncrasies of their maker’s approach. There is room for plenty of tension, perhaps, in these juxtapositions, but in keeping each work’s independence they avoid direct conflict. Working in tandem like this is hugely revealing. It entails a tangible sense of mutual respect and the deep knowing of someone else which extends, at its most intimate, into the anticipation of their next move. What results is a symbiosis that becomes a pas de deux.

(text adapted from material provided by the gallery)

INFORMATION

The Third Line
Alserkal Avenue, Warehouse 78
Street 8, Al Quoz 1
Dubai, United Arab Emirates
+971 4 3411 367

Hours:
Monday-Saturday, 11AM-7PM

MAP | WEBSITE | FACEBOOK

COLLAGE ON VIEW Nima Nabavi and Jason Seife: Duality at The Third Line in Dubai, United Arab Emirates14 November 2023-5 January 2024 “Duality”, featuring new works by artists Nima Nabavi and Jason Seife, is a showing of two artists working…

[11
http://kolajmagazine.com/content/content/collage-exhibitions/exhibition-meaning-to-glue-at-nightingale-gallery/
13 January-2 February 2012Nightingale Gallery at Eastern Oregon University“Meaning to Glue” is curator Cory Peeke’s examination of 11 contemporary artists who use materials, images and forms which speak to collection, recollection and reinterpretation.
AT KOLAJ FEST NEW ORLEANS Spotlight on Marie Conigliaro For Marie Conigliaro, collage is a depiction of the fragmented nature of the world we live in, but also of its togetherness. "Different and disjointed elements of this world and beyond can be brought together as one through this medium," observed…
https://i0.wp.com/kolajmagazine.com/content/wp-content/uploads/Snake-by-Marie-Conigliaro.jpg?resize=350%2C200
https://i0.wp.com/kolajmagazine.com/content/wp-content/uploads/Snake-by-Marie-Conigliaro.jpg?resize=350%2C200 1x, https://i0.wp.com/kolajmagazine.com/content/wp-content/uploads/Snake-by-Marie-Conigliaro.jpg?resize=525%2C300 1.5x, https://i0.wp.com/kolajmagazine.com/content/wp-content/uploads/Snake-by-Marie-Conigliaro.jpg?resize=700%2C400 2x
Vakseen & Sean Stepanoff 7-31 July 2017 Collage artists Vakseen and Sean Stepanoff join Annie L Terrazzo, Tracy Reid Lewis, Dos Diablos, and Matt Adrian for the La Luz de Jesus Gallery's Summer Showcase, curated by Matt Kennedy.
