The overall effect is that the paper is actually bonded, not just glued, to the print. It can, at times, look like it is embossed. <em>Chine coll\u00e9<\/em> roughly translates from French as \u201cchine\u201d= tissue, and \u201ccoll\u00e9\u201d = glue or paste.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The layering of the printmaking process and the production of multiples from a single matrix is the foundation of printmaking.
