ARTIST PROFILE <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

“The Irrational Stage” is a profile of World Collage Day 2025 Poster Artist Rosita Schandy from Montevideo, Uruguay. “Art creates a safe place for us to work out our irrationality in ways that can lead to a deeper understanding of ourselves and others. Play is how we learn about the world, how we discover new ways of being.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

COLLAGE EXHIBITION<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

How do we bring collage to a community? How do we foster engagement? “Paths of Engagement” explores how Victoria, British Columbia collagist Phyllis Schwartz developed ways to engage her community with collage in exhibition and publication. \u201cThe conversation(s) about animating the exhibition changed the way I want to curate and design an exhibition. It was a game changer, like finding the missing puzzle piece,\u201d said Schwartz.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

COLLAGE COMMUNITY<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In “Rasga Tijera: Collage Collective,” Mayboll Vargas reports on how Costa Rica\u2019s first celebration of World Collage Day led to a new collage collective. “Collage is not a widely recognized artistic medium in Costa Rica, so having this first exhibition with over fifty attendees was a good start to reclaiming the art of telling stories through cutting and pasting paper in our country.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
