Jemima Jo\u00e9l’s “Time of the Tignon” celebrates the cultural resistance of the African Diaspora during the French colonialism period by highlighting headdressing fashion. Artwork on display includes storytelling acrylic paintings, mixed media headwrapped mannequins, and headscarf arrays.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During Tignon Talk on Sunday, 29 June 2025, 2-3:30PM, Dr. Camille Dantzer, Xavier University, will lecture on tignon laws and the legacies of Black Hair Freedomways as anti-colonial resistance to future erasure. This will be followed by a head wrap demo and artist talk by Jemima Jo\u00e9l. The event will close with a musical performance by Jemima Jo\u00e9l and The Gaias. Light refreshments. Visitors may wear head attire that allows them to appropriately express pride in their cultural heritage and racial identity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
