Using worn textiles, stained paper, topographical maps of Vermont, and employing techniques such as monotype printmaking, collage, and sewing, Smereka transforms fragments marked by time into new visual languages. Her work invites viewers to consider how past and present intersect, creating new forms that emerge from memory and material.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Susan Smereka is a Canadian-American artist whose career spans more than four decades. She was born outside Toronto, Ontario, and has lived in Vermont for over thirty-five years.
