\u201cMagos de la Tierra\u201d brings together sculptures, assemblages, paintings, and wood carvings by Orlando Estrada and Jacoub Reyes that examine the generational impacts of migration, cultural disintegration, and colonialism. Drawing upon their Puerto Rican heritage, the artists explore diasporic consciousness, otherness, and the ways land, art, memory, and identity intertwine. The exhibition is curated by David Rios Ferreira.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The exhibition\u2019s title responds to \u201cMagiciens de la Terre”, the landmark 1989 exhibition at the Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris that challenged Eurocentric frameworks while generating ongoing debate about cultural representation. Estrada and Reyes reimagine its ideas through materially layered works that uncover patterns within buried histories. Estrada\u2019s sculptures embody transformation, conjuring terrains shaped by the forces of cultural evolution, while Reyes uses printmaking, carved wood, and fabric to consider memory, hybridity, and the natural world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
