Her work, Reconstruction I, was featured on the back cover of the issue. This is some of what Kolaj associate editor Ariane Fairlie had to say:

Taratiel’s geometry is an obvious product of her design training, and brings to mind the rich architectural culture of Barcelona. Many of the vertical compositions reach up like turrets of a cathedral. She transitions seamlessly from two dimensions to three and back, never confusing the sense of space…The shapes shift, rotate, reflect, and duplicate, punctuated by soft black forms just strong enough to enforce boundaries, but not too harsh to disrupt the rhythm or fixate the eye.

To see all of Anna Taratiel’s Artist Portfolio, purchase Issue Nine or SUBSCRIBE to never miss an issue.

Image:
Reconstruction VII
by Anna Taratiel
27.5″x20″
mixed media on paper
2014
Courtesy of the artist and Mini Galerie, Amsterdam

BARCELONA, SPAIN Anna Taratiel has lived in Barcelona her entire life, and the influence is deeply embedded in her collage.
