Chris Siron: “Uncanny Remnant”

Chris Siron\u00a0is particularly enthusiastic about collage and multi-media. In addition to his visual art practice, Siron\u00a0has been interested in music and sound and has been a member of improvisational bands including The Spanish Apes and Flash Gordon\u2019s Ape. He has made several cut-out and stop-motion animations. His collages and photographs have been published in Throttle<\/em>, C.O.R.E.<\/em>, and Pannus Index<\/em>. His recent work is an animation addressing bird deaths due to building collisions.<\/p>\n

DC-native Chris Siron followed the painting and printmaking curriculum in the Fine Arts Department at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond. He also completed courses in animation at the Children\u2019s Museum in Washington DC, and photography at The Corcoran School of the Arts.\u00a0Siron\u00a0works at the National Gallery of Art bookshop and lives in Baltimore, Maryland.<\/p>\n

“Uncanny Remnant” was curated by\u00a0Eric Denker, Senior Lecturer, National Gallery of Art.<\/p>\n

The opening reception takes place Friday, 2 October, 6:30-8:30PM.<\/p>\n
