Researchers Use Collage Encourage Social Support<\/h2>\n

It\u2019s not often an art magazine gets to report on medical research, but Montreal collage artist Anouk Sug\u00e0r was recently written up in the prestigious journal The Lancet Oncology<\/em> for her work with researchers on a public information campaign about cancer that used collage to convey the message.<\/p>\n

Patricia Lobo reported on the work of Astrid Brousselle, a Universit\u00e9 de Sherbrooke researcher, who found that social support was critical to people seeking out early cancer screening and treatment. \u201cTo spread the message of encouraging loved ones to see a doctor when they suspect symptoms of cancer, Brousselle collaborated with her good friend and visual artist Anouk Sug\u00e0r to turn these findings into collages,\u201d wrote Lobo. \u201cBut, the initial signs seemed positive: \u2018lots of people were taking the postcards, and they were not throwing them away\u2014probably because it was something they found beautiful,\u2019 Brousselle recalls.\u201d The full article can be found in the February 2016 issue of The Lancet Oncology<\/em>.<\/p>\n
