Hanging in space, the work can be observed from multiple viewpoints.

Born and raised in Michigan, Stoll attended two of the state’s most celebrated cultural institutions, earning a high school diploma from Interlochen Arts Academy and a MFA from Cranbrook Academy of Art. Since moving to New Orleans in 2009, she has been affiliated with Tulane School of Architecture, teaching first year drawing and electives in mixed media collage. As editor, she oversaw the relaunch of the reVIEW, a time-honoured publication that highlights the best of student work. From 2012-2015, Stoll served as Associate Dean of Students and Director of Career Explorations in Architecture.

By the end of September 2016, Stoll had snail mailed 1,385 original postcard collages through her Random Acts of Mail Art Project (a completely commerce-free endeavor that aligns with the concept of Random Acts of Kindness) and Mail Art Monthly Subscriptions, available on Etsy.

(adapted from the venue’s press materials)

INFORMATION

AIA New Orleans
1000 St. Charles Avenue
New Orleans, Louisiana 70130 USA
(504) 525-8320

Hours:
Monday-Friday, 10AM-4PM
Saturday, Noon-6PM
or by appointment

MAP | WEBSITE | FACEBOOK

Image: (top)
Chicagoland
by Jill Stoll
36″x24″
newspaper collage on canvas
2016
Courtesy of the artist

Image: (centre)
“Withdrawal” installation view
by Jill Stoll
Courtesy of the artist

Jill Stoll: “Withdrawn” 1-29 October 2016 Jill Stoll‘s “Withdrawn” at the AIA New Orleans features a 48″x480″ collage mural comprised of paper ephemera.
