Material Assumptions: \u00a0Paper as Dialogue<\/p>\n

This two-part exhibition aims \u201cto elevate the role of handmade paper as a primary conceptual and formal supporting partner in contemporary art…\u201d Part one features work from the archive of New York\u2019s DieuDionn\u00e9, dedicated to the creation, promotion, and preservation of contemporary art utilizing hand papermaking, with work on display by Jessica Stockholder, Glenn Ligon, Richard Tuttle, Chuck Close, Polly Apfelbaum, Sonya Blesofsky, Mel Bochner, Ian Cooper, William Kentridge, Beth Campbell, and Nina Bovasso. Part two unveils 12 newly commissioned works by Midwest artists using paper handmade to their specification in the Center for Book and Paper Arts, including Ian Schneller, Dan Devening, Kate McQuillen, and Zoe Nelson.<\/p>\n
