Editorial<\/h2>\n

In Kolaj<\/em> #21<\/a>, Editor Ric Kasini Kadour was inspired by an exchange on social media to make an argument for when the Golden Age of Collage was.<\/p>\n

I recently got into an exchange on Facebook with two brilliant collage artists, Scott Neff and Allan Bealy. Neff made the observation, \u201cThe Golden Age of Illustration is considered the 1880\u2019s to 1920\u2019s in Europe and the Golden Age of Collage is considered to be Dada and Surrealism Eras (1916-1950)…I wonder if art will ever have the importance it once did.\u201d I claimed the Golden Age of Collage has yet to come. Bealy disagreed, \u201cThe Golden Age of Collage has been and gone. That doesn\u2019t mean there isn\u2019t fantastic work being done now, but it will never again have the relevance that it did when it was a new form. The waters are too muddied and the tools (computers, etc.) make it too easy.\u201d I asked Neff to \u201cHold my beer,\u201d and told Bealy, \u201cChallenge accepted!\u201d<\/em><\/h2>\n
