Works pivot between abstract and narrative approaches, acting as vehicles to address larger cultural, personal, and societal issues. What connects the artists in the exhibition is their affinity for the raw physicality of the art form, and a tactile process that the viewer experiences through layers of information. Photographic imagery, paint, paper, resin, found objects, and a multitude of materials are employed to communicate disparate messages. Combined, the artists reinterpret and reimagine a collective past, present, and future, resulting in dynamic new realities.

Including the work of: of Sacha Baumann, Rochelle Botello, Yasmine Diaz, Chelsea Dean, Lea Feinstein, Danielle Garza, Tm Gratkowski, Jennifer Gunlock, Michael Hentz, Bettina Hubby, Jay Lizo, CW Mihlberger, Cindy Rehm, Susan Sironi, Carly Steward, Toshee, and Essi Zimm.

(adapted from the gallery’s press materials)

INFORMATION

Keystone Art Space
333 South Avenue 16
Los Angeles, California 90031 USA
[click to email]

Hours:
Monday-Saturday, Noon-5PM
and by appointment

MAP | WEBSITE | FACEBOOK

Images (top to bottom):
Abstract Narrative
by Tm Gratkowski
60″x42″
paper on paper

Re(fuse) 1
by Tm Gratkowski
52″x48″x48″
paper on 72 recycled grocery bags on wood pallette
2011
Courtesy of the artist

COLLAGE ON VIEW Disparate Sources: Los Angeles Collage at Keystone Art Space in Los Angeles, California, USA 28 April-6 May 2018 Opening reception: Saturday, 28 April, 6-10PM “Disparate Sources: Los Angeles Collage”
