Edinburgh Collage Collective<\/a> (ECC) presents “Vinylism”.<\/p>\n

“Vinylism” is an international selection of collages from ECC’s 2018 Open Submission Project. The theme of this year\u2019s project was the vinyl record. Once ubiquitous, now niche, the vinyl record inspired over 200 submissions to the project from artists around the world. ECC selected over 100 of the best of these for the exhibition. Alongside “Vinylism”, they are also presenting a smaller collection of work from a handful of invited artists who the ECC thinks represent some of the finest collagists working today.<\/p>\n

The combined exhibition showcases the rich and diverse range of contemporary collage processes and celebrate the sharing of inspiration as artists connect and forge ideas globally.<\/p>\n

Like collage, the vinyl record is a physical, analogue medium. It is both an art object in its own right and a mechanism for expressing ideas. This commonality made it an ideal subject for our project. The response was overwhelming, with submissions from as far afield as Australia, Canada and Peru. The works vary widely in style and process but all share the same two strands of visual DNA: collage and the vinyl record.<\/p>\n
